On the morning of June 1, Wanda Group donated RMB5 million to Hebei Charity Federation to establish the Critically Ill Children’s Foundation of Hebei Province, unveiling the “Charity Initiative” of saving critically ill children nationwide.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s special attention and aid to a child leukemia patient Li Rui he came across at Tianjin Railway Station in February 16 this year triggered a strong response across the country. To help more financially disadvantaged children out of medical difficulties, the Ministry of Civil Affairs decided to create a joint aid mechanism for critically ill children. Wanda Group responded actively by donating RMB5 million to Hebei Province and Liaoning Province respectively to establish the Critically Ill Children's Foundation in the two province, the first to launch the “Charity Initiative” of saving critically ill children nationwide. Earlier on May 31, Wanda Group donated RMB5 million in Shenyang to Liaoning Charity Federation for establishment of the Critically Ill Children’s Foundation of Liaoning Province.

Since its inception 20 years ago, Wanda has donated over RMB1.2 billion, exclusive of donations in kinds. As an acknowledgement of its marked contributions to charity, Wanda Group won the China Charity Award three times, and Wanda Group Chairman Mr. Wang Jianlin becomes the first entrepreneur elected Honorary President of China Charity Federation. In addition to the present donation, Wanda Group has financed some other charity foundations in China, including the first rural migrant worker aid foundation in Dalian to which it donated RMB10 million, the first emergency rescue foundation of the Ministry of Civil Affairs to which it donated RMB5 million, and the poverty alleviation foundation of All China Federation of Industry and Commerce to which it donated RMB15 million.
